GHRU, Amravati Organised Debate Competition
The Innovation Club of G H Raisoni University, Amravati organised a “Debate Competition”.
The Innovation Club of our institution organized an engaging Debate Competition on two contemporary topics on 26/08/2025. The themes of the debate were:
- Should students be allowed to use ChatGPT and AI tools for assignments?
- Is online education better than traditional classroom learning?
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various classes. The debaters presented well-researched arguments, highlighting both the advantages and drawbacks of the topics.
Round 1: Use of ChatGPT and AI tools for Assignments
Participants discussed the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence in academics.
- In Favour: Students argued that AI tools like ChatGPT enhance creativity, save time, provide instant information, and can be powerful learning companions. They emphasized that responsible use of AI can improve efficiency and critical thinking.
- Against: Opponents raised concerns about over-dependence on AI, lack of originality, and the risk of plagiarism. They stressed that relying heavily on AI might hinder the development of independent thinking and problem-solving skills.
Round 2: Online Education vs. Traditional Classroom Learning
The second round revolved around the future of education in the digital age.
- In Favour of Online Education: Students highlighted flexibility, accessibility, global exposure, and the use of modern digital tools as major benefits. Online platforms were seen as effective for self-paced and personalized learning.
- In Favour of Traditional Classroom Learning: Participants emphasized personal interaction with teachers, peer learning, discipline, and the holistic environment of classrooms that foster social and emotional development.
Almost 30 students participated from all the departments making the event a grand success.
