“Voices In Motion” – A Voice and Body Workshop Organised at GHRU, Saikheda
The Drama Club of G H Raisoni University, Saikheda, successfully conducted an engaging and insightful event titled "Voices in Motion – Voice and Body Workshop" on 4th August 2025. This workshop aimed to enhance students’ vocal expression, body language, and stage presence through practical, interactive activities. One of the primary goals of the workshop was to train students in effective voice modulation techniques. Participants learned how to control pitch, tone, volume, and pace to deliver dialogue or speech with clarity and emotional impact. This training helped them communicate more confidently and convincingly in both stage and real-life scenarios. In addition to vocal training, the workshop focused on improving body language and non-verbal communication. Students became more aware of their body movements and gestures, understanding how posture, facial expressions, eye contact, and hand movements can convey meaning without relying solely on words. This skill is essential for actors and public speakers alike. Many students experience stage fright or nervousness when performing or speaking publicly. To address this, the workshop included group exercises and interactive games designed to help participants overcome anxiety, develop self-confidence, and establish a strong presence on stage. The event also fostered creativity and emotional expression by providing a safe and encouraging space for students to explore their creative side. Activities were designed to tap into their imagination and help them express a wide range of emotions—joy, anger, sadness, excitement—through both voice and physical action. Teamwork and collaboration were key components of the workshop, as drama is inherently a collaborative art form. Group activities and role-playing exercises encouraged participants to listen, support, and build trust with one another. These skills are valuable not just in theatre, but also in academic and professional life. Participants reported several improvements as a result of the workshop. They developed better vocal projection, clarity, and control through various voice training activities. Many students who were initially shy became more comfortable speaking in front of others. Additionally, through guided movement and expression exercises, students gained practical insights into how body language can enhance communication and storytelling. Interactive games and role-play activities helped students overcome stage fear, leading to a more relaxed, expressive, and confident demeanor while performing in front of a group. The safe and collaborative environment allowed students to explore different emotions and scenarios, helping them open up creatively and express themselves freely. Group-based exercises fostered mutual trust, collaboration, and a sense of belonging, as students worked together to create short performances that showcased their strong team spirit. The workshop concluded with encouraging feedback from students and faculty alike, who appreciated the hands-on approach and called for more such workshops in the future. Overall, the "Voices in Motion – Voice and Body Workshop" successfully provided students with a platform to enhance their vocal expression, body language, and stage presence. The event helped boost confidence, encourage creativity, and promote teamwork, making it a meaningful and enriching experience that highlighted the importance of expressive arts in student development.
