SI Basic Constants & Standards since 2019

GHRCEM, Pune Organised an Expert Session on “SI Basic Constants & Standards since 2019”

The Department of Electrical Engineering, through the e-Vehicle Club and in collaboration with the Student Chapter of the Solar Energy Society of India (SESI) and the IEEE Student Chapter, successfully held an expert session on “SI Basic Constants and Standards Since 2019” on Friday, 8th August 2025. The event took place from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Mr. R. P. Deshpande, a well-respected Energy Consultant from Aurangabad with extensive experience in metrology, standards, and measurement sciences, conducted the session. He provided a detailed explanation of the redefinition of SI units that has been implemented internationally since 2019. Mr. Deshpande highlighted the fixed physical constants that now form the foundation of the measurement system, explaining how these changes improve precision, reliability, and global consistency in measurements. Participants gained valuable insights into the practical applications of SI standards in engineering, industry, and research. Mr. Deshpande used real-world examples to connect theoretical knowledge with practical engineering scenarios, which sparked curiosity among the students. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where students and faculty engaged in discussions about the importance of standardization in fostering innovation, ensuring quality assurance, and facilitating global trade. The event was coordinated by Dr. Asha Shendge, the Event Coordinator, under the guidance of Dr. V. M. Panchade, the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, and with support from Dr. R. D. Kharadkar, the Director. The organizers expressed their appreciation for the enthusiastic participation and acknowledged the session's significant contribution to enhancing both academic and professional competencies.
