NSS Volunteers of GHRCE, Nagpur Participated in World AIDS Day Rally
On December 2, 2024, a rally was organized in Nagpur to commemorate World AIDS Day, which is observed annually on December 1. The event aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, promote prevention measures, and eliminate stigma surrounding the disease. The rally, spearheaded by the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH), brought together healthcare professionals, students, volunteers, and community members under the shared mission of spreading awareness. Starting at 8 a.m. from IGGMCH, the participants followed a planned route that covered key locations, including Hansapuri, Daga Hospital, Agrasen Chowk, Dosar Bhavan Chowk, and concluded back at IGGMCH. The participants carried banners, posters, and placards with impactful messages about HIV prevention, testing, and treatment. Slogans like "Stop AIDS: Keep the Promise" and "Know Your Status" echoed through the streets, drawing the attention of onlookers.
The rally was coordinated by medical professionals and student volunteers, with active support from local NGOs and community leaders. Safety measures were adhered to throughout the event, ensuring a smooth and organized procession. The rally successfully engaged the community, sparking meaningful conversations about the importance of awareness and compassion towards individuals living with HIV/AIDS. It underscored the critical need for collective efforts to end the HIV epidemic and foster an inclusive society. 11 NSS volunteers from G H Raisoni College of Engineering Nagpur participated in rally under the observation of Dr. Mangesh Bhorkar, NSS PO and under the guidance of Dr. Sachin Untawale, Director GHRCE Nagpur.
