Workshop on “Demonstration on Fire and Extinguisher” Organized at GHRCEM, Pune
On 22nd February 2024, the Disaster Management Club at G H Raisoni College of Engineering and Management organized a workshop titled “Demonstration on Fire and Extinguisher.” The session was led by Mr. Sagar Bhaskarrao Raskar, a Safety Management expert and esteemed member of the National Safety Council and the Fire and Safety Association of India (FSAI).
Objective:
The primary objective of the workshop was to raise awareness among students, faculty, and non-teaching staff regarding firefighting techniques and the appropriate responses during emergency situations. The session aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills to effectively handle fire-related incidents.
Participation:
The workshop witnessed an impressive turnout, with a total of 187 participants, including students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff. Attendees actively engaged in the demonstration process, gaining valuable insights into fire prevention and safety measures.
Key Discussion Points:
The workshop covered several critical topics, including:
- Basic Fire and Life Safety: Participants were introduced to fundamental concepts of fire safety, emphasizing the importance of awareness and preparedness.
- Usage of Fire Extinguishers: The session provided detailed information on the various types of fire extinguishers available and demonstrated their proper usage. Participants learned how to select the appropriate extinguisher based on the nature of the fire.
- Fixed Fire Fighting Equipment: The workshop also included discussions on the use of fixed firefighting equipment, enhancing participants' understanding of available resources for fire management.
Mock Drill:
To reinforce the learning experience, a mock drill was conducted, allowing participants to practice the techniques discussed during the session. This hands-on approach helped attendees gain confidence in their ability to respond effectively in real-life emergency situations.
