“Cinematic Tales” Event Organised at GHRCEM, Pune
On September 13th, 2024, the Movie Club at G H Raisoni College of Engineering and Management, Pune, hosted an inspiring event titled Cinematic Tales: Storytelling While Streaming Inside Out. The event aimed to spark introspection and open a dialogue on emotions and personal growth, using the beloved film Inside Out as a catalyst. Directed by Pete Docter, the film delves into the inner workings of a young girl’s mind, where her emotions—joy, sadness, anger, fear, and disgust—guide her through a major life change, offering a powerful lesson on embracing all emotions.
The event, which started at 11:00 am, was attended by the Dean of the First Year, Dr. Vandana Dureja, and officially opened with a welcome by club coordinator Mrs. Surabhi Pranav. The Movie Club’s president, Pravin Paithankar, outlined the club’s objectives and shared an overview of the day’s activities. The structure of Cinematic Tales was thoughtfully designed to engage participants beyond just watching the movie. The first part of the event consisted of the screening of Inside Out, which ran from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The audience, mostly first-year students, connected deeply with the film, laughing during lighthearted moments and tearing up during the more emotional scenes. The portrayal of various emotions resonated with many, as they too are undergoing significant transitions in their own lives. In the second half, attendees participated in a post-movie storytelling session, where students shared personal stories related to the emotions in Inside Out. This interactive discussion allowed them to explore their emotional journeys in a supportive environment, highlighting the universality of joy, sadness, anger, and fear in navigating life's challenges.
The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many appreciating the opportunity not only to enjoy a film but also to reflect on its emotional depth and share their own experiences. The interactive storytelling session was especially praised, as it encouraged vulnerability and introspection, reinforcing the club's mission of promoting mental well-being and emotional growth on campus.
The event was successfully organized under the guidance of club coordinator Mrs. Surabhi Pranav and President Pravin Paithankar. Through events like Cinematic Tales, the Movie Club continues to foster a supportive environment that encourages students to engage with films on a deeper level, reflecting on their own emotions and experiences. This event further solidified the club’s commitment to promoting self-care, empathy, and mental health awareness within the campus community.
