An Internal Hackathon Hosted at GHRCEM, Pune for Nominations of SIH-2024
On the 4th, 5th, and 6th of September 2024, the Eureka Innovation and Incubation Centre, Eureka Startup Club, and the Institution Innovation Council of G H Raisoni College of Engineering and Management (GHRCEM), Pune, came together to host the much-anticipated Eurethon 2k24. This three-day internal hackathon, filled with energy and excitement, provided a platform for selecting the best and brightest minds to represent our college in the prestigious Smart India Hackathon 2024.
With over 150 teams from various engineering departments participating, the event buzzed with creativity and innovation. It was an inspiring spectacle as students tackled real-world challenges with novel solutions, teamwork, and technical prowess, truly unleashing their potential to engineer solutions for a better future.
· Diving into the Themes of SIH 2024
This year, the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) introduced a diverse range of 68 Hardware and 178 Software problem statements across multiple themes:
· Agriculture, FoodTech & Rural Development
· Blockchain & Cybersecurity
· Clean & Green Technology
· Fitness & Sports
· Heritage & Culture
· MedTech / BioTech / HealthTech
· Miscellaneous
· Renewable / Sustainable Energy
· Robotics and Drones
· Smart Automation
· Smart Vehicles
· Travel & Tourism
· Transportation & Logistics
· Disaster Management
· Smart Education
· Toys & Games
· Space Technology
· Smart Resource Conservation
These problem statements, proposed by various State Governments, Central Ministries, Corporates, or submitted as AICTE MIC Student Innovations, provided a broad canvas for creativity and innovation. Participating students at Eurethon 2k24 presented their ideas in the prescribed SIH 2024 template, ensuring they adhered to the guidelines and demonstrated their understanding of the chosen problem statements.
· Comprehensive Evaluation Framework
To ensure a fair and balanced assessment of the projects, Eurethon 2k24 employed a detailed evaluation framework. The evaluation was based on several key parameters:
1. Innovation and Creativity: Assessing originality and the creative aspects of the solution, such as novel approaches or features that enhance value.
2. Technical Feasibility: Gauging the technical complexity and robustness of the implementation, ensuring that advanced skills and appropriate technologies were employed effectively.
3. Practicality and Usability: Determining the real-world applicability and user experience of the solution, evaluating its ease of use and scalability.
4. Impact and Benefits: Measuring the effectiveness of the solution in solving the problem statement and its potential social or environmental benefits.
5. Sustainability: Reviewing the plan for long-term viability, resource efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
6. Presentation and Communication: Evaluating clarity, demonstration quality, and the effectiveness of communication in presenting the solution.
7. Team Collaboration and Execution: Considering the effectiveness of teamwork, time management, and resource utilization during the hackathon.
8. Adherence to Problem Statement: Checking the relevance of the solution to the problem statement and its accuracy in addressing the defined issue.
9. Solution Readiness: Assessing the maturity of the solution, from prototype to fully developed stages, and its preparedness for deployment.
10. Solution Demonstration: Reviewing the effectiveness and engagement level of the solution's demonstration, ensuring it clearly illustrates the solution’s functionality and potential impact.
These evaluation criteria ensured that both innovative and practical aspects of each project were thoroughly considered, fostering a competitive yet supportive environment for all participants.

Looking Ahead to Smart India Hackathon 2024!
This year, SIH 2024 has announced a fantastic opportunity for all participating institutes, allowing each institute to nominate up to 50 teams, with each team permitted to propose 2 ideas across any problem statements, enabling a maximum of 100 innovative ideas per institute.
With the enthusiastic participation, innovative ideas, and dedicated efforts of our students, we are confident that GHRCEM Pune will shine brightly on the national stage at the Smart India Hackathon 2024. As we continue to push boundaries and challenge conventions, we are excited to see what the future holds for our talented engineers and entrepreneurs.
