नवरात्रि कला” - A Navratri-inspired Craft Event at GHRCEM, Pune

The “नवरात्रि कला: Navratri-inspired Craft” event organized by the Fine Art and Craft Club on October 4, 2024, sounds like a wonderful celebration of the Navratri festival through arts and crafts. With 80 students registered and 41 participating, the event provided a great opportunity for students to engage with the cultural significance of Navratri while expressing their creativity.

1. Introduction to Navratri: Participants gained valuable insights into the history and cultural significance of Navratri, learning about its diverse celebrations across India.

2. Hands-on Crafting: The hands-on crafting session allowed participants to create traditional items such as Navratri dolls, dandiya sticks, garlands, decorative torans, and diyas, all made from eco-friendly materials.

3. Cultural Connection: The session emphasized traditional motifs, colors, and symbols associated with Navratri, such as the goddess Durga and the nine colors of the festival, enriching participants' understanding of the festival's art and decorations.

4. Creative Expression: Participants were encouraged to incorporate their own design ideas into their crafts while maintaining the Navratri theme, fostering individual creativity.

5. Dandiya Decoration: A special focus was placed on designing and decorating dandiya sticks, allowing participants to personalize these traditional dance tools with vibrant colors and embellishments.

6. Eco-friendly Focus: The event highlighted sustainability by using recycled and eco-friendly materials, reflecting the traditional reverence for nature during Navratri.

7. Collaborative Crafting: Participants worked in groups to create larger installations or craft projects, such as Navratri-themed murals or altar decorations, promoting a sense of community and celebration.
