Tree Plantation Drive

Tree Plantation Drive on the Occasion of Van Mahotsav 9 July 2022

To spread awareness about the conservation of forests in order to save the environment.

The students of Sadabai Raisoni Women’s college carried out a tree plantation drive on the 9th of July 22 as a part of Van Mahotsav. The program aimed to plant about 130 saplings. This is a week long festival which was started in 1950 by K.M.Munshi, The Union Minster for Agriculture and Food, to create enthusiasm among masses for forest conservation and planting trees. It is celebrated on different days in different parts of India. Every citizen of India is expected to plant a sapling during this week.

The drive was carried out at Aajan gaon , a village in the bordering area of Nagpur city. It began with a simple yet effective speech on ‘Environment’ following the welcome of Dr. Kevin Gawali. Dean of Raisoni University,  Sarpanch of Aajan Gaon & Professor Prachi Sasankar. Nearly 120 students were present for plantation. More than 150 saplings were planted along the roadside. Some charts and banners relevant to tree plantation were also  designed by students . The curiosity to learn and will to change were clearly seen in the efforts of students. Faculty also participated in the program and made a boundary of 50 plants along the roadside to resist environmental pollution. The main purpose of this event was to enhance awareness about the importance of tree plantations.

In the end, Professor Prachi Sasankar addressed and thanked the sarpanch as well as other staff members and students for coming and participating in the program.
