e-Baja Competition

Team “Abhyuday” from GHRCEM, Pune participated at e-Baja Competition, Hyderabad

The Department of Electrical Engineering at the G H Raisoni College of Engineering and Management, Pune, participated in the E-BAJA competition focusing on electric vehicles. This marks our college's first participation in the tournament. The competition consists of three phases: two virtual and dynamic rounds. After winning the first two rounds, our team of 30 members was prepared for the third round. We were in Hyderabad from March 3rd to March 12th, 2024, for the Third Dynamic Round, held there.

On the first day, March 3rd, Team Abhyuday departed from the college by bus to Pune station. At 4:40 pm, the team boarded a train from Pune to Hyderabad. On the second day, March 4th, our team arrived at the hotel in Hyderabad around 11 am. The day was spent studying and planning the different events. A small group of students visited the B.V. Raju Institute of Technology College on March 5th, while the remaining students dedicated their time to practising their design presentation. March 6th saw an early start as we headed to BVRIT College at 6:00 am. After arriving around 7:30 am, we began the registration process at 8:00 am. Following registration, we prepared our vehicles for the Technical Inspection (TI) and completed the weight test. Despite not finishing the electrical technical inspection due to a long queue, we cleaned the pit and returned to the hotel for dinner and a meeting to plan for the next day.

March 7th commenced with an early departure at 5:00 am to BVRIT College. We focused on the electrical technical inspection, which we passed on the first attempt. However, we encountered issues during the mechanical technical inspection, requiring corrections for another attempt later.

After making necessary repairs, we underwent the mechanical technical inspection on March 8th, passing it successfully. Following this, we faced a crucial braking test, which required adjustments after failing the first attempt. We eventually passed on the second try and proceeded to further activities like S&T, sledge pull, and manoeuvrability. After passing all the tests, our vehicle was set for the endurance event on March 9th. Five team members attended the event's live venue with a driver, while others watched the event's live screening at the college's arranged hall. Following the endurance award function, we returned to the hotel.

On March 10th, interviews for E Baja were scheduled for selected students from the aptitude round. Our vehicle's overall rank in the Finale was 26 out of 87 participants, which is the successful rate for first-time participation.
