Extempore Speech Competition

Extempore Speech Competition organized at GHRCCST, Nagpur

‘Extempore Speech Competition’- an activity conducted under the banner of - “Abhivyakti”- ‘The Literary- Club’ on 15 March ’24, in room number 305 on the 3rd floor to give a platform to the students to instil confidence to speak well, to inculcate a flair for the language and enhance their literary skills, and to induce reading habits among students.

At the onset of the program, The chief guest, Dr. Ipshita Sengupta, HoD of Social Science Sandipani School, Nagpur, Prof. Madhuri Barua, Dean of Student’s Activities and Progression (RBS), Ms. Arumita Pawa, HoD Jr. college GHRCCST Faculties and the participants were welcomed to the event. The chits for the program began with the lighting of the lamp seeking blessings of Goddess Saraswati.

 The participants were acquainted with the rules of the activity, i.e. ‘Extempore Speech Competition’. Ms Shrinidhi Tembare, the executive member of the literary club, introduced the chief guest and presented a memento. The participants first picked the chits for the sequence then they were given 10 min. to prepare and 2 min to speak on the given topic. 15 participants had weaved the yarn to present their ideas/thoughts on the given topics. It was a good learning experience for the students to face the challenge of impromptu speech. The principal, Ms.Jasvinder Kaur, encouraged the students to participate in such activities to develop effective communication skills. 

The Chief Guest, in her speech, motivated the participants to teach the quality of being expressive as the titles of the literary club ‘Abhivyakti”, highlights the ethos of being expressive in any form like- Speaking, writing, reading, or performing arts, etc. Dr. Ipshita Sengupta and Prof. Madhuri Barua, Dean of Student’s Activities and Progression (RBS), rewarded the winners with a cash prize. The activity was a successful one. All the core committee members of the Literary Club have worked hard for the smooth conduction of the program. The program concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony where the winners were rewarded with a cash prize and the participants were appreciated with certificates. 

Program Outcome: 

The literary activity ‘Extempore Speech Competition’ was a grand success and proved to be a very interesting activity, wherein the participants got the experience of being able to express themselves by weaving yarn around the ideas and thoughts, instilling in them the confidence to speak well.
