Youth Parliament – 2024 Organized at GHRU, Saikheda

GHRU, Saikheda's University Student Council, recently organized Youth Parliament – 2024 at the College campus.

 The Youth Parliament event aimed to provide a platform for all students to engage in discussions on important socio-political issues, fostering a spirit of democratic dialogue and active citizenship. Coordinated by Mr Alok Joshi and Mr Ateet Parihar, the event sought to enhance students' understanding of parliamentary procedures and encourage their participation in constructive debates. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students across various disciplines and academic levels. A diverse group of students, reflecting the university's vibrant community, actively engaged in the Youth Parliament sessions.

The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Nityanand Pandey (Dean of the School of Law), Ms. Aruna Namballa (Director of the Department of Law), Vice Chancellor Dr. Meena Rajesh, and Registrar Dr. Shriram Joshi. Their presence added immense value to the event, providing students with an opportunity to interact with and learn from respected figures in academia. Ms. Jhankruti C. Badani, a distinguished alumna and Ph.D. scholar in Constitutional Law at Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, was the keynote speaker. Her profile, including achievements and academic journey, was shared to inspire students in their pursuit of legal education and research.

Activities Conducted:

1. Inaugural Session: The event commenced with an inaugural address by Vice Chancellor Dr. Meena Rajesh, setting the tone for the Youth Parliament.  

2. Keynote Address: Ms. Jhankruti C. Badani delivered an insightful keynote address, sharing her experiences and emphasizing the significance of informed and responsible participation in parliamentary discussions.

3. Mock Parliamentary Sessions: Students actively participated in mock parliamentary sessions, simulating real-world debates. This hands-on experience allowed them to understand parliamentary procedures and hone their public speaking and argumentative skills.

4. Panel Discussion: A panel discussion moderated by Ms. Aruna Namballa provided a platform for students to engage in discussions on contemporary legal and political issues.

Students expressed overwhelming appreciation for the event, citing it as an enriching experience that broadened their perspectives on parliamentary affairs. Many highlighted the value of interacting with the dignitaries and the guest speaker, Ms. Jhankruti C. Badani.

Outcomes:

1. Enhanced Understanding: The event succeeded in enhancing students' understanding of parliamentary procedures and democratic principles.  

2. Inspiration for Future Leaders: Ms. Jhankruti C. Badani's journey served as an inspiration for students, motivating them to pursue excellence in the field of law and contribute meaningfully to society.

3. Networking Opportunities: Students had the opportunity to network with the dignitaries and the guest speaker, fostering connections that could be beneficial for their academic and professional journeys.

The Youth Parliament event emerged as a successful endeavour, fostering a culture of informed discourse and civic engagement among the university's student body. The insights gained from this event are expected to contribute positively to the personal and academic development of all students who participated.
