Spanish Language Bridge Course

Spanish Language Bridge Course Organised at GHRU, Amravati

As part of the induction programme for newly admitted B.Tech and BCA students, G H Raisoni University, Amravati, successfully organised a five-day Spanish Language Bridge Course. The programme aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals of the Spanish language while providing an understanding of the culture and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries. The course encouraged students to develop an interest in learning a foreign language and build a strong foundation in basic communication skills.

Course Content

During the five-day programme, students were introduced to the Spanish alphabet, pronunciation, numbers, greetings, common words and expressions, and everyday vocabulary. The sessions also covered basic sentence formation, reading skills, and introductory conversational Spanish. Interactive activities such as role-plays, speaking exercises, and classroom discussions enabled students to practice the language in real-life situations. Special emphasis was placed on accurate pronunciation and practical communication to help students gain confidence in speaking Spanish.

Beyond language learning, the course also highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Spain and other Spanish-speaking nations. Students explored topics including traditions, festivals, cuisine, customs, and the global significance of the Spanish language, fostering cultural awareness and encouraging cross-cultural understanding.

Teaching Methodology

The course followed an interactive and learner-centred approach to ensure active participation. The teaching methods included:

·         Audio-visual presentations

·         Pronunciation and listening exercises

·         Group discussions and collaborative activities

·         Role-play conversations

·         Question-and-answer sessions

·         Worksheets and practice exercises for reinforcement

Students were encouraged to participate actively throughout the programme, making the learning experience engaging and enjoyable.

Student Participation

The course received an enthusiastic response from students, with over 30 participants attending the sessions regularly each day. Students actively took part in pronunciation practice, reading activities, group discussions, and conversational exercises, creating a vibrant and interactive classroom environment. Their eagerness to learn and willingness to communicate in a new language reflected the success of the programme.

The Spanish Language Bridge Course was successfully conducted and effectively achieved its objective of introducing students to the basics of the Spanish language while promoting cultural awareness and global perspectives. The excellent participation, positive feedback, and consistent attendance demonstrated the students' enthusiasm for learning a foreign language. The programme served as a valuable addition to the induction process, inspiring students to explore new languages and cultures while strengthening their communication skills.
