Use of Hydrogen fuel in IC Engine

Demo Session on Use of Hydrogen fuel in IC Engine at GHRCEM, Pune

Renewable club under Mechanical Engineering Department of GHRCEM Pune organized a demo session on use of “Hydrogen fuel in IC Engine” Hydrogen is type of green fuel which is environment friendly i.e., does not emit any harmful gases after combustion, which helps in reduction in air pollution and minimize the global warming issue. Hydrogen has a wide flammability range in comparison with all other fuels. As a result, hydrogen can be combusted in an internal combustion engine over a wide range of fuel-air mixtures. A significant advantage of this is that hydrogen can run on a lean mixture. Hydrogen engines burn hydrogen in an internal combustion engine; in just the same way gasoline is used in an engine. Hydrogen internal combustion engines (Hydrogen ICE) are nearly identical to traditional spark-ignition engines.

The faculty member Prof. Dr. Sameer S. Gajghate, Principal investigator of Center for Excellence in Hydrogen Fuel test laboratory explained the need of hydrogen fuel for future and motivates the students for research scope in hydrogen fuel. He summarizes the overview of the current status of Engine technology and concern utilization hydrogen fuel in the world.

The students enjoyed the session. Overall program was successfully conducted. Total 42 students from different department were participated in the demo session.
