Diwali Celebration at Old Age Home by SRWC, Nagpur

On the occasion of Diwali, students from Sadabai Raisoni Women's College decided to devote their time and spend it with the respected senior citizens of the old age home “Prem Daan”. Objective was to show love and affection towards the elderly people. The only things they need in old age are your love and support. Kindly do not leave your parents or grandparents in old age home, they looked after you and now it’s your turn to look after them and take care of them.

The senior citizens were greeted with the gift packs, snacks and surprise present created by the students. At the moment senior citizens sung songs, played with the flute, laughed on jokes and enjoyed with students a lot with great favor. The students also made Rangolis and talked with them. They also burned firecrackers with full safety and it caused very less pollution. Diwali gifts were distributed to the elders followed by lunch. It was a great learning experience for the students. The meet ended with hugs and goodbyes with promises of visiting again. Visits like such are important to cultivate the parental feeling in the students and to keep them grounded.

The kind of warm welcoming attitude the aged people received from them made them smile ear to ear. They also responded with the same warmth and feelings. The students brought gifts and candles for all. Both the students and people from old age home cherished the moment and celebrated Diwali together. 

The students and the teacher in charge Samiha Khan worked hard to make the event a grand success.
